Mount Vernon City Schools will use 2-hour delays as necessary. During a delay, children riding buses will be picked up two hours later than their usual time. If we are on a 2-hour delay, families will still need to listen to the radio to see if a decision is made to close school. Weather conditions may make it necessary to change our plans.
If school must be closed or the opening delayed because of inclement weather or other conditions, the Superintendent’s office will notify the following radio and TV stations:
WMVO/WQIO (AM-1300/FM-93.7) WNZR
WSNY ONN
WTVN (News Radio WCMH (Channel 4)
WSYX (Channel 6) WBNS (Channel 10)
There will be NO breakfast if we have a 2-hour delay.
Morning Kindergarten is 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Morning Kindergarten students will be picked up at their homes two hours later than the regular time.
Afternoon Kindergarten is 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
Afternoon Kindergarten students will be picked up at their homes one hour later than usual.

10:55 Bell for entry into school
11:00 School Begins
11:30 Lunch (grades 1-2)
11:50 Lunch (grades 3-4)
12:10 Lunch (grades 4-5)
12:30 Grades 1-5 return to class
1:00 Morning Kindergarten Ends
1:30 Afternoon Kindergarten Begins
2:10 – 2:20 Afternoon K-1 recess
3:30 Dismissal
3:45 Teacher workday ends
